The NS (Name Server) records of a domain show which DNS servers are authoritative for its zone. Basically, the zone is the group of all records for the domain name, so when you open a URL inside a web browser, your PC asks the DNS servers worldwide where the domain name is hosted and from which servers the DNS records for the domain address should be retrieved. In this way a browser finds out what the A or AAAA record of the domain name is so that the latter is mapped to an IP and the website content is required from the right location, a mail relay server discovers which server deals with the e-mails for the domain (MX record) so that a message can be delivered to the needed mailbox, and so on. Any change of these sub-records is done through the company whose name servers are used, enabling you to keep the website hosting and change only your email provider for example. Each and every domain has a minimum of 2 NS records - primary and secondary, which start with a prefix like NS or DNS.

NS Records in Website Hosting

When you use a website hosting from our company and you add a new domain address inside the account or transfer an existing one from another provider, you are going to be able to manage its NS records with ease through the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel, which comes with all shared accounts. You can change the current name servers or enter additional ones for a single domain or even for several domain addresses simultaneously with several clicks. This is done using the feature-rich Domain Manager tool that is a part of Hepsia and the user-friendly interface is going to make it easy to handle your domain even if it's the first one you have ever registered. It takes merely a mouse click to see what name servers a domain uses at the moment or if they are the correct ones to direct a domain name to the hosting space on our end and with only a couple of mouse clicks more you'll even be able to register private name servers for each of the domain names that you own. For the latter option you can use the IPs of each and every provider that you would like the new NS records to point to.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Our semi-dedicated server accounts are managed using Hepsia - an all-in-one tool with extremely user-friendly interface, which will allow you to handle your domains without difficulty even when you have not used a web hosting account or a domain address before. Changing the NS records for each and every domain name registered using our company, viewing the existing ones and whether they are accurate or not as to forward that domain name to our cloud hosting platform is also very simple and takes just a couple of clicks. You'll also be able to register child name servers under each and every one of your domains as part of the free DNS administration services which we provide with each and every plan and have ns1.your-domain.com and ns2.your-domain.com. The latter can be used for any domain which you accommodate within the semi-dedicated account, so if you offer services to third-parties and host their sites, using this feature will give you much more credibility as a business.
